The Gospel Sessions

Het duo van John Dikeman en Ernst Glerum brengt muziek uit verschillende religieuze tradities, waaronder lofzangen uit de Europese christelijke religies en muziek uit de Afro-Amerikaanse kerk op basis van Gospel en de blues. De composities fungeren als springplank voor improvisatie die de muziek naar een onconventioneel gebied kan brengen, maar de nadruk op melodie en soulvolle interactie houdt de muziek toegankelijk.

“Dikeman and Glerum allow you to set aside any aversion to sentimentality. That is probably where faith (God or your fellow man) come into play. But then Gospel has always played that role. Dikeman applies the perfect amount of vibrato and when needed works the upper register to great effect.
